On September 9, 2014, Vitaly Timokhov will present at the 11th Annual Taxation of Financial Products & Derivatives Course (Federated Press).  Vitaly will speak on the Taxation of Cross-Border Financing and Investment.

Vitaly’s presentation will highlight the Canadian taxation implications of a number of cross-border financing and investment structures and will cover the following topics:

  • Hybrid entities and the Canada-U.S. tax treaty: update

  • Effect of recent administrative guidance and proposed legislation

The course will deal with Canadian and cross-border tax issues of relevance to financial institutions, investment companies and funds, and other taxpayers involved in sophisticated financial transactions.  Relevant presentations will include:  Taxation of Derivatives: Basic Principles, Embedded Derivatives, Forwards, Futures and Currency Swaps Tax Considerations, Taxation of Securities Lending Arrangements and Repurchase Transaction and Taxation of Options.
