On November 6, 2014, Vitaly Timokhov, a tax lawyer and the firm’s partner, will speak at the 8th Tax Planning for the International Client  Course (Federated Press).  Vitaly will speak on the Recent Tax Treaty Developments: Impact and Planning Opportunities for International Client.

Vitaly’s presentation will highlight the following topics:

  • Canadian Tax Treaty update: new Barbados and Hong-Kong tax treaties
  • Treaty Shopping and Limitations on Benefits: practical considerations and the recent legislative proposals on treaty shopping.
  • Effect of recent administrative guidance and proposed legislation on the outbound and inbound cross-border structure relying on relief provided by Canadian tax treaties, including the Canada-U.S. Income Tax Convention (1980).
